A Marine from Littleton died from combat injuries he suffered in Iraq.

The Department of Defense says 28-year-old 1st Lieutenant Matthew R. Vandergrift died Monday after he was injured in Basra.

Vandergrift was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
