Colorado Springs Police have arrested a 31-year-old man accused of starting a fire in the 3rd floor of an apartment complex near Fountain and Chelton.

Police officers got a call about a structure fire at the Fountain Villas Apartments at around 10:00 Monday night.

An Investigation revealed that a tenant at this complex had been served an eviction notice that afternoon. Police say he returned to set fire to the carpet in the third floor hallway.

Firefighters and officers saw the carpet was burned and began to question the suspect Domonic Krause, 31, outside his apartment.

According to police, he did not listen to the officers' commands and a struggle began. Officers recovered a clear glass pipe commonly used for smoking narcotics while placing Krause under arrest.

Krause was charged with attempted first degree arson, fourth degree arson-endangerment, obstructing a peace officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
