Springs Police say there has been an unusual number of break-ins on the Northeast side of Colorado Springs.

11 News spoke to several people who had their car windows broken, vandalized and items stolen out of them.

One man who lives in a neighborhood near Rangewood and Vickers told us a burglar broke his window, stole cash and hockey pucks that where in the console.

The crooks didn't stop there, they ransacked his next door neighbors car, and broke a window of a truck belonging to a man across the street.

Another man, who lives in the Stetson Hills area, contacted us after his security cameras caught what he believed to be a woman trying to break into his car while it was sitting in his driveway.

He turned that video into police they tell us they are investigating.
Police tell us they will have a better of how many car breakins happened over the last couple of days on later on Monday.

Springs Police confirmed to us, Monday evening that there were 69 car breakins from Friday to Monday.
Police say that number is fairly high.

We spoke to yet another resident in the Springs who lives in an apartment complex near the Chapel Hills Mall.
His car was broken into Saturday night.

Michael Smargie told 11 News he accidently left his wallt in the car after a late night.
Crooks got into his vehicle without breaking the windows or setting his alarm off a few hours later.
They took his wallet, it had $40, pictures of his grandfather who passed away and credit and debit cards.

He says the tried to use his cards but they were denied use.
This is just one of the 69 car breakin stories from over the weekend, one of many that police are investigating.
Smargie is planning to pay $80 a month to use a garage at his apartment complex, an idea police say is great to avoid becoming a victim.
Police say this is also a good time remind people to park in well lit areas and take all valuables out of your car every night.

They say vehicle breakins are a crime of opportunity.
If you have any information that could help police with their investigations, call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
