Colorado Springs Police are investigating an unusual early morning accident that took place at 4:05 am Saturday. A pickup truck was seen traveling west on West Colorado Avenue when it veered over the right curb, hit a bus stop sign and slammed into Westside Boot at 615 W. Colorado Ave.
Police say a witness reported the driver then backed out of the building and hit parked vehicles. That person took off down McKinley Place and left a trail of debris in his wake.
When police arrived on the scene of the truck, they found a man out of the truck who claimed not to be the driver and would not give any details as to his involvement with the accident. The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries for evaluation.
Police searched the area for another possible suspect, but no one was found. At this time, because police have no evidence to say whether drugs or alcohol were involved because they don't know who was driving the truck at the time of the accident.
