An afternoon cold front will limit afternoon temperatures to the 50-60s on Thursday. Expect the chance for rain showers this afternoon, transitioning to a rain/snow mix overnight and for the first half of Friday. Higher elevations have the best chance to see accumulating snow, although snowfall totals look fairly low at this time, with 1-2" possible for Monument and areas of Teller County. Colorado Springs fire crews scrambled in response to a reported wild-land fire in the hills of Parkmoor Village near the Palmer Park area around 7:00 Saturday morning.
Multiple trucks and wild-land crews responded to the area to contain any potential spread of the fire. The fire began to spread to trees and grassy areas around the area. If crews had not gained control of the fire as quickly as they did, the fire would have threatened several homes in the heavily wooded area and the Palmer Park area.
A large storage shed near the Church of All Nations building was destroyed and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
