"A lot of questions," are what Denver Police Chief Sonny Jackson says officers are grappling with after a little boy wandered away from his home and fell into the nearby river.
The 3-year-old was found in the South Platte River near 8th and Zuni in Denver about an hour after being reported missing Saturday. He was still alive but in grave condition. Our sister station KCNC reports that he was unresponsive when a police officer pulled him out of the water and began CPR.
The child died a few hours later.
“He was in the river, nested in some boulders,” Jackson said.
Police are trying to figure out how the boy got out of his home.
