Police: Fatal Gunshot Wound Caused By Accidental Discharge

A 25-year-old woman has died from injuries sustained when her gun accidentally discharged.

Fountain police received a call at 10:15 a.m. Friday alerting them to a home on the 8500 block of Link Road, where the caller said a woman had suffered a gunshot wound.

When they got there, they found a young child and a badly injured woman unconscious in a bedroom. The woman had been shot in the stomach.

The 25-year-old victim was transported to Penrose Main, where she later died.

At this time, police are trying to figure out the events that led up to the incident. An autopsy is pending.
