Police are still searching for the person who shot a woman at a party early Sunday morning in Fountain.
The victim is expected to recover.
Fountain police say a group of 30 to 40 people, including juveniles and adults, were fighting when several gunshots were fired. The woman was shot in the leg.
"I was fearful, I thought to myself, 'I wonder what's going on down the street,'" neighbor Marcia Whittaker said.
The incident happened around 1:10 a.m. on the 7200 block of Loveland Ave. in Fountain. When police responded, 10 people were still inside the home, and refused to open the door for officers.
Our crew was at the scene, and says police used a megaphone to tell them to come out. Police say the group complied.
A search warrant was then executed.
The owner of the home was arrested when he allegedly tried to go back into the house after being told not to. Darryl James is facing charges of obstructing a peace officer and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Police say a juvenile also tried to re-enter the house, and was given a summons and complaint before being released.
"Living this close, you know, three houses down, it makes you kind of leery of what's going on with the kids these days," Marcia Whittaker said.
The shooting is still under investigation.
"It was kind of a shock because the neighborhood's really very quiet. We have teenage kids and elementary kids here in the area and we haven't really had any problems for the 33 years I've been here," Edward Whittaker added.
