A woman with Colorado Springs ties was found dead in the backseat of a car at an impound lot in Castle Rock.

Police made the grisly discovery Thursday after being alerted to the lot on reports of a woman sleeping in the backseat of the car. Workers at Westside Towing saw the woman when they were going out to the vehicle to clean it. The vehicle had been in the lot since Dec. 12.

When officers checked out the car, the "sleeping woman" was determined to be deceased. Authorities are not saying how long they believe the body was in the car.

The Douglas County Coroner has identified the woman as 53-year-old Lea Marie Lippincott. Her driver's license has her address being in Colorado Springs.

Cause and manner of death have not been released at this time, but police say there is not believed to be a threat to the community.
