Woman Charged With Attempted Murder Of Peace Officers

A woman is charged with several crimes including attempted murder of peace officers after allegedly pointing a gun at sheriff deputies--and pulling the trigger.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office tell 11 News that 53-year-old Pamela Langvardt is booked without bond on five counts of attempted murder of peace officers, menacing, possession of weapon by previous offender, prohibited use of weapon and reckless endangerment.

She pleaded guilty in 1995 of a false report concerning explosives and weapons.

A spokesperson with the sheriff's department tell 11 News that Thursday afternoon around 4:45, deputies responded to reports of a suicidal woman with a gun.

Sheriff's deputies say they found Langvardt on a front lawn with a gun. The deputies tried to negotiate with her, but say she pointed the handgun at the deputies and tried to fire.

Deputies say the weapon failed and Langvardt was quickly arrested.
