A woman leaving St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo was assaulted and robbed last week.
A possible suspect was captured on surveillance video, and police are hoping someone in the public may be able to help locate him.
The incident happened just after 8 p.m. on Jan. 16 in the parking lot near the Mammography doors. As the woman climbed into her car, a man in his late teens or early 20s grabbed her purse. When she put up a fight, struggling to hold on to it, police say he hit her in the face and yelled repeatedly that he was going to kill her. He then allegedly slashed her face with an unknown sharp object and ran off. He was able to get away her purse.
Police describe the suspect as Hispanic, about 5-foot-3 and 120-130 pounds, possibly sporting a light mustache and goatee. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly dressed mostly in dark clothing: dark jeans, black oversized coat with a hood, and a tan or gray baseball cap with a black emblem in the front.
If you have any information that can help police, call Pueblo police or Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP.
We reached out to the hospital, who says it is installing additional security cameras, and is doing everything it can to increase safety.
