Officers responded to Garden of the Gods late Wednesday night after a woman reported being threatened at gunpoint by an acquaintance.

The woman told police that she thought the man--who she only knew as "Matt"--was trying to assault her friend while the friend was passed out in the back of his truck. She said that when she tried to get her friend out of the truck, Matt pointed a gun at her and told her to back off.

Police say they eventually located 41-year-old Matthew Craig and the woman's 25-year-old friend at a home on the 100 block of Troutt Avenue. The reporting party's friend said she had not been assaulted or taken against her will, and police say the only gun they found was a pellet gun. Craig was arrested for felony menacing charges.
