During a domestic disturbance call, police say the woman involved became combative and assaulted the first officer to arrive on scene.

Police had been called to the home on the 6400 block of North Academy in Colorado Springs Wednesday evening on reports of a physical fight between the woman, identified as 35-year-old Edwina Willden and a man at the home. Willden is accused of assaulting the male victim.

Willden was arrested on felony charges of second-degree assault on an officer and several misdemeanor charges including third-degree assault and harassment. She was taken to the hospital prior to being booked in the CJC.

Police say the assaulted officer did not sustain any significant injuries. They did not comment on the status of the victim in the disturbance.
