A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. A busy Colorado Springs intersection was closed for hours Saturday night after a motorcycle rider reportedly rear-ended a pick up truck and was killed, according to multiple witnesses at the scene.
The witnesses told KKTV 11 News the rider then flipped over the pickup and was run over. Police have not confirmed their account of what happened.
A woman and a small child were in the truck, and did not have time to stop before hitting the rider, according to witnesses. The woman and child were not seriously hurt.
Police have not released much information about the accident, including the motorcycle rider's name.
The crash is still under investigation.
The crash happened at approximately 11:50 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Union and Academy in Colorado Springs.
Southbound Academy was closed from Union to Flintridge for about four hours while emergency crews responded at the scene.
