A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will go into effect on Tuesday afternoon for most of Southern Colorado. Daytime heating and moisture will combine with a disturbance moving through Colorado to develop numerous thunderstorms. Any one of them will be more than capable of producing very heavy rain. Burn scars and areas that have seen recent heavy rain will be under the greatest risk for flash flooding. The 11 Breaking Weather Team will be tracking this threat all day for you.
The wife and daughter of a murder victim are now behind bars for their alleged involvement in his death.
The victim's daughter, 33-year-old Dawn Richburg, told authorities that when she came home on the night of February 13, the house appeared to have been burglarized: door wide open, items stolen. She called 911 right away.
When responding deputies entered the home, which is located in Widefield, they found the body of 47-year-old Miguel Barajas inside. Investigators later ruled the death a homicide.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office arrested Richburg and her mother Sandra Barajas, 52, early Saturday morning. An acquaintance of the mother-and-daughter duo, Tommy Wright, 34, was also arrested. His relationship with the victim has not been released.
All three have been charged with first-degree murder, criminal solicitation and criminal conspiracy. Barajas and Richburg are being held at the CJC, while Wright is already in custody in Douglas County on unrelated charges. He is expected to be transferred to El Paso County at some point in the future.
All are being held without bond.
The Sheriff's Office says the case remains active, and are staying mum on many details while the investigation is ongoing. They have not released what led them to believe that these three were involved; the Sheriff's Office will only say that detectives came to the conclusion after working "diligently" on the investigation over the last three months.
