Police cordoned off several blocks in a Colorado Springs neighborhood in an effort to find a wanted man. The suspect managed to evade police capture.
It happened at 11:25 p.m. July 12 in the area of the 2400 block of Hagerman Street. That is near Cimarron and 21st street on the west side of town.
Police say they were looking for Cory Speer. Speer is wanted on charges of possessing a dangerous or illegal weapon, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
Police dogs helped in the search, but Speer got away. Police did recover a short barreled shot-gun that Speer allegedly had during a confrontation with his father-in-law.
