Walmart announced Thursday that the retail giant will build a 210,000 square foot data center and will have 30 full-time employees.
It will be within the Interquest development in north side of Colorado Springs. Construction is planned to begin on the 24 acre site in October 2011 and should be complete in late 2012.
The announcement came in a news release sent to KKTV 11 News:
“Colorado Springs welcomes the new Walmart data center. We are excited about Walmart’s investment in the community and the economic impact that this project will have,” said Doug Quimby, Chairman of the Colorado Springs Regional Economic Development Corporation, “This effort was a collaboration in every sense of the word. It was through the joint efforts of the City of Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Academy District 20 School Board, the State of Colorado and EDC that this was made possible.”
