The Walmart Foundation is investing $20 million over the next five years towards veteran employment and transition programs, the company announced Wednesday.
Walmart says this is on top of $20 million the company pledged in 2011.
The company says they are well on their way to reaching their five-year goal of hiring 100,000 veterans, having hired more than 42,000 vets nationwide in the last year. Of those, 1,023 veterans have been hired in Colorado Walmarts since May 2013.
On Walmart's corporate website, the company states that under their Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, the company will "hire any honorable discharged veteran who wants a job with us in his/her first 12 month off active duty."
