Many of those living near the Waldo Canyon burn scar know all too well what it's like to be evacuated because of a wildfire.
Monday they stepped in to help those evacuated because of the Black Forest Fire.
The two groups came together for a picnic; it was a chance for them to unite.
"We wanted to wrap our arms around them to let them know we care," said one volunteer. "We've been there and we know what they 're going through."
A local nonprofit is working to pair those who lost their homes in the fire with Black Forest evacuees, helping them to get back to normal.
