Volunteers from Lowe's help install new playground equipment on Yuma Street in Colorado Springs.

The makeover at a local playground is almost complete. Volunteers from area Lowe's stores prepped the ground and installed some of the equipment Thursday at the playground on Yuma Street in Colorado Springs.

The playground is used by at-risk youth in the Salvation Army Red Shield after-school and summer camp program. The Pikes Peak United Way and corporate partners are sponsoring the renovation of the playground after seeing the decayed condition. The corporate sponsors include FedEx, (as part of FedEx Cares Week), Target, Lowe's and JE Dunn.

The playground is expected to be complete by Friday.
