Family Seeks Help In Unsolved Homicide

A Southern Colorado family is searching not only for answers, but for justice after tragedy knocked on their door one year ago.

Louis Lave and Laurine Jordan are asking the community for help after losing their son Carlos in a shooting 365 days ago.

Police have still not been able to catch the shooter and they need your help.

Family and friends of Carlos ‘Lil Man’ Lave held a candlelight vigil right across from Club Manor Sports Bar where the 22-year-old was shot.

Dozens lit a candle and shared memories of the man they called “strong” and said had a “good heart”. His parents told 11 News that Carlos was a “fun loving kid” and a “one of a kind.”

Blue balloons were released into the air to remind the community of the man loved by so many.

By filling the sky with balloons they hope people will start asking questions, and then remember the crime against Carlos in an effort to someday solve it.

Louis and Laurine hope the vigil and released will spark the memory of someone in the bar that night one year ago, and urge them to come forward.

“I am always missing my son. Everyday I think he is gonna walk in that door, but I know he's not going to,” said Carlos’ mother Laurine Jordan.

Louis Lave adds, “We would never wish this on anybody else in life. It happened to us and it's not fair that somebody is out there walking around with the thought they got away with something. Justice has to be done.”

The parents say it’s been the hardest year of their life. Not only mourning the loss of their son, but knowing that justice has not been served.

“Just knowing that my son is gone and his murderer is walking the streets. That’s the hardest part,” said Jordan.

The couple is searching and praying that they can finally get answers, and with it the closure they long for.

“We can not rest until we have that closure. It just never leaves your mind. You wake up thinking about it, go to bed thinking about it; it’s constantly on your mind,” said Louis Lave.

Police say Carlos Lave was shot twice in the parking lot of the sports bar off of Club Manor. Investigators believe a fight broke out in the bar right before he was shot outside.

Investigators say they need the community’s help to solve this homicide. Police tell 11 News they believe the shooting was “gang related”. And because of a “code of silence” no one will talk.

The family is begging any witnesses to do the “right thing” as they continue to search for answers and peace.

Police want to remind you that you can remain anonymous while giving your tip.
