State Patrol says they weren't notified about a rollover accident until five hours after it happened. Two people were taken to the hospital.

The crash happened at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday on Las Animas County Road 71, about two miles north of Trinidad.

The driver apparently over-corrected after going off the left side of the road. The car spun and went off the right side of the road where it rolled 2 1/2 times and landed on the roof.

The driver, identified as Erik Trujillo, 23 of Colorado Springs, suffered "moderate" injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to State Patrol.

The passenger, John Trujillo, 33, suffered "serious" injuries. He was wearing a seat belt, according to State Patrol.

Speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash.

Although the accident happened around 1 a.m., State Patrol says they were not notified until 6 a.m.
