Hundreds of people turned out Tuesday night to remember the family killed in a rock slide on the Agnes Vaille Falls trail in Chaffee County.
Dwayne Johnson (46), Dawna Johnson (45), their daughter Kiowa-Rain Johnson (18), and nephews Baigen Walker (10) and Paris Walkup (22) died in the slide.
Thirteen-year-old Gracie Johnson, the lone survivor of the family group on the hike, remains in Children's Hospital in Denver. Her condition is listed as stable following surgery for a severe broken leg.
Both of her parents were coaches in the local school district.
The candlelight vigil was held at the football stadium at Buena Vista High School Tuesday night.
People lit candles and played music as they remembered the Johnson family.
Students and families wrote out prayers, memories and notes about the family and tied them to the front of them stadium.
Those will be displayed this Saturday at the memorial service. The service will be at 11 a.m. in the P.E. Complex gym at Buena Vista High School.
