Police are investigating whether a crash involving a garbage truck and a cyclist is a hit-and-run.
Witnesses told police the truck left the scene after crashing into a cyclist on eastbound Austin Bluffs next to UCCS. Police say right now they are not calling the crash a hit-and-run because they are still trying to determine whether or not the driver knew he hit someone.
One witness told 11 News that the force of impact sent the cyclist flying, and that he landed in the dirt on the side of the road. The extent of injuries is unknown. It's also unknown whether or not the cyclist is a student at UCCS.
About 10 minutes after the first crash, a second crash was reported right across from it, on the opposite side of the road. Our crew says it looked like a three-vehicle fender-bender. Injuries in that crash are unknown.
