One of the employees linked to the scandal at the El Paso County Sheriff's Office is now taking sick leave.
The sheriff's office confirmed Thursday that Undersheriff Paula Presley will be out of the office for medical reasons. They would not elaborate further.
Presley is one of the women accused of having an affair with Sheriff Terry Maketa and then getting promotions over other people who may have been more qualified.
The sheriff's office told 11 News that the undersheriff has more than 1,400 hours, or 36 weeks, of sick time. While she's gone, Bureau Chief Al Harmon will be the acting undersheriff.
