A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Two of the people accused of committing crimes in an evacuation zone while the Waldo Canyon Fire raged appeared in court Tuesday. A judge decided to increase bond for both suspects.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation says agents working on an unrelated investigation about identity theft arrested Belinda Yates and Shane Garrett for the burglary of an evacuated home in Colorado Springs. The pair also allegedly had methamphetamine at the time of their arrests in Monument.
Yates and Garrett are facing charges including second degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance, theft, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and theft by receiving.
The CBI says they were assisted in the investigation by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and the Monument Police Department.
11 News is in the courtroom for their appearance Tuesday morning. Garret was out on bond, but a judge decided to increase that bond amount to $150,000 and deputies took him into custody inside the courtroom.
Meanwhile, Wells-Yates was already in custody but her bond was also increased. The judge set her new amount at $450,000.
