Two robbery suspects are in the hospital after being shot during a robbery attempt at a Colorado Springs shop.
When police arrived at Smoker King on 1951 W. Uintah Wednesday night, one suspect was sprawled on the ground with a gunshot wound. A second suspect initially fled the scene and was shot upon returning.
Officers believe the men were in the midst of an armed robbery attempt when they were shot.
Police believe it was an employee that pulled the trigger and are currently treating the incident as an officer-involved shooting, meaning that police will investigate to see if the shooting was justified before determining any charges.
The two suspects were the only ones injured in the incident. Though seriously injured, both are expected to survive.
Police have identified the suspects as Shawn Visiko, 20, and Darren Kranes, 23. Both are currently in the hospital and will be charged with criminal attempted aggravated robbery when they are released.
Members of the Violent Crimes, Robbery and Homicide units are assisting with the investigation.
