A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will go into effect on Tuesday afternoon for most of Southern Colorado. Daytime heating and moisture will combine with a disturbance moving through Colorado to develop numerous thunderstorms. Any one of them will be more than capable of producing very heavy rain. Burn scars and areas that have seen recent heavy rain will be under the greatest risk for flash flooding. The 11 Breaking Weather Team will be tracking this threat all day for you.
Two robbery suspects are in the hospital after being shot during a robbery attempt at a Colorado Springs shop.
When police arrived at Smoker King on 1951 W. Uintah Wednesday night, one suspect was sprawled on the ground with a gunshot wound. A second suspect initially fled the scene and was shot upon returning.
Officers believe the men were in the midst of an armed robbery attempt when they were shot.
Police believe it was an employee that pulled the trigger and are currently treating the incident as an officer-involved shooting, meaning that police will investigate to see if the shooting was justified before determining any charges.
The two suspects were the only ones injured in the incident. Though seriously injured, both are expected to survive.
Police have identified the suspects as Shawn Visiko, 20, and Darren Kranes, 23. Both are currently in the hospital and will be charged with criminal attempted aggravated robbery when they are released.
Members of the Violent Crimes, Robbery and Homicide units are assisting with the investigation.
