Two separate attacks in Afghanistan has left six troops dead, including three soldiers from Fort Carson.

The Fort Carson soldiers were killed by a suicide bomber Wednesday. The Mountain Post released their names Thursday: Maj. Thomas E. Kennedy, 35, of West Point, N.Y., Command Sgt. Maj. Kevin J. Griffin, 45, of Laramie, Wyo., and Maj. Walter Gray, 38, of Conyers, Ga. Kennedy and Griffin are pictured here; the military has not released a photo of Gray.

According to Fort Carson, CSM Griffin is the highest ranking enlisted member from that post to be killed in either Iraq or Afghanistan.

Kennedy and Griffin were assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson. Gray was an air liaison officer and flight commander for the Fort Carson-based 13th Air Support Operations Squadron, which is part of the 93rd Air Ground Operations Wing headquartered at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia.

11 News has learned Friday that three more service members were shot by an Afghan man while they were training. The assailant was reportedly wearing an Afghan Army uniform. The identities have not been released, but according to CBS, Afghan sources are saying that the slain troops were members of a U.S. Special Forces team overseeing the training and recruitment of Afghan Local Police.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for both attacks.
