Police Looking For Suspects In Dollar Store Robbery Attempt

A well-timed alarm thwarted a robbery attempt by two men at a Springs dollar store Sunday night.

The men fled as soon as the alarm sounded, getting away from the area before officers responded.

Prior to that, the suspects had confronted employees at the Family Dollar Store as they were leaving for the night, and demanded that they open the safe. One of the suspects was reportedly carrying a semi-automatic handgun.

The alarm went off at this point, and the men took off. Police dogs searched the area, but were unable to locate them. The Family Dollar Store is located near Platte and Murray on the southeast side of town.

Both suspects were described as black males. The first suspect is believed to be in his mid-20s, 5-foot-10 and 140-150 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket, black shorts and black baseball hat, with a white bandana concealing the lower half of his face. He was the one reportedly carrying the gun.

The second suspect is in his late teens and was dressed mostly in purple: purple bandana over the lower portion of his face, purple baseball hat, purple jacket. He was described as being thin and about 5-foot-6 in height.

Police ask that anyone with information on this robbery call 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
