Two Men Arrested For Firing Shots in Local Neighborhood

Two men are behind bars after gunshots ring out in a local neighborhood.

Just after 1 a.m. Sunday morning, Colorado Springs Police officers received several calls about gunfire on Moonbeam Drive and Moonbeam Circle South. That’s near Hancock Expressway and Academy in Colorado Springs.

Witnesses told police they saw a person shooting out of a dark car. Then they saw the car speed away. As officers responded to the area they spotted the driver of the same car committing a number of traffic violations. Officers pulled the car over. They discovered the driver and passenger in possession of two handguns. We talked to neighbors who were surprised by this.

“It is a quiet neighborhood. We’ve been here since August and this is the first I’ve heard of anything like that. It’s very quiet, kind of family oriented. We all watch out for each other. But I wouldn’t expect that here,” Cherlyn Mix explained.

Police arrested Willie Underwood and Lyndon Wattley for possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
