Excessive speed and distracted driving may have contributed to an accident that left one man dead and a state trooper injured.
State Patrol says the accident is still under investigation, but that both factors are being considered.
Investigators say 47-year-old Martin Braden of Aurora was cleaning up debris from an earlier accident on Highway 85 near Weld County Road 6 when a pickup truck hit and killed him Saturday.
The truck also hit a patrol car, injuring trooper Scott Rendfrey. He was taken to the hospital and released late Saturday.
Troopers say 61-year-old Dana Beales was behind the wheel of the truck. Charges against him are pending until the investigation is completed.
