Soldiers in the 4th Infantry Division are now under the helm of a new commander.

Maj. Gen. Joseph Anderson handed command of the 4th ID and Fort Carson over to Maj. Gen, Paul LaCamera in a change of command ceremony Thursday. Anderson became commander of the 4th ID in Nov. 2011. Fort Carson credits him for helping to bettering the lives of soldiers and their families during his tenure, most notably by overseeing numerous programs aimed at improving quality of life and improving access to wellness care.

Anderson is now headed to Fort Bragg, N.C., where he will serve as Special Assistant to the Commanding General of U.S. Forces Command.

LaCamera is formerly the deputy commanding general of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg.

Earlier this week, the Mountain Post said also said goodbye to another leader.

Brigadier General Darsie Rogers served as the deputy commanding general for about a year. He and his family are heading to North Carolina.

Fort Carson held a retreat ceremony Wednesday to say goodbye.
