A highway in Douglas County is expected to be closed through most of Friday after a freight train derailment.

Eighteen cars went off the tracks Thursday in Sedalia. No injuries or spills were reported, but surveillance video shows some close calls. Sister station KCNC reports video showed a wheel axle came within several feet of hitting a gas pump, then came loose from the train and rolled towards a man driving a truck.

“The big wheel, a couple of wheels, coming to me, the front of my truck,” Susano Hererra described to KCNC.

Hererra was able to back out of the way in time to avoid being hit.

The train wasn't carrying anything in its cars at the time of the accident. At this time, it's unknown what caused the train to derail.

Westbound Highway 67 is closed at Highway 85 while cleanup continues.
