A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Several inches of accumulation will be possible in areas where these bands develop. For more information click the ‘Weather’ tab...
Drivers on 31st Street in Colorado Springs could see some delays as the city make repairs to the Camp Creek Channel.
The section of drainage channel that's being repaired is in the median from West Bijou Street and Echo Lane to Chambers Way. The area is north of West Colorado Avenue in Colorado Springs.
The city says there will be lane closures and street parking will be prohibited in some areas. There will also be short periods when the whole street is closed.
Crews will be resurfacing areas of the channel where the concrete is damaged.
The repairs are being made to keep the channel functional until planning, permits and funding are in place to completely reconstruct it.
More storm water and sediment flows through the channel since the Waldo Canyon Fire. The city says large amounts of rainfall in September also damaged the channel.
The city plans to host a community event April 29 to discuss permanent improvements. That is expected to take place from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria in Coronado High School located at 1590 W. Fillmore St.
