Locally heavy rain and snow will impact Southern Colorado through Friday afternoon and early evening. Heaviest snow will favor the mountains, Teller County, and El Paso County. This will lead to difficult travel conditions by Friday morning. Heavy snow will also occur in the higher terrain to the southwest of Pueblo. The storm will wind down later Friday evening. Power has been restored several hours after a car crash caused a large outage occurred in the Broadmoor/Ivywild area.
At its height at 8:35 a.m., when the outage was first reported, almost 4,000 customers were impacted. Based on a map on the Colorado Springs Utilities website, the outage area was originally west of Highway 115 and north of Lake Avenue, with some homes in the Stratton Meadow area east of Highway 115 and west of I-25 included.
Police have confirmed that the outage is due to an accident at Lorraine and LaClede, near Cheyenne Boulevard, at 8:34 a.m. The driver reportedly hit a power pole, knocking power out for thousands in the area. No serious injuries were reported.
