A local teenager is sharing her powerful message that bullying victims are not alone.

She's taking her campaign to students and educators in Southern Colorado.

Abigail Geddyes says she was bullied relentlessly in middle school. Now she is hoping to connect with other victims through music.

The 15-year-old tells 11 News she found an outlet for her own pain through song writing.

At the urging of her principal, she performed a song Wednesday night at the Widefield School District meeting. Her message to other victims: there is help out there.

"When I started writing my music, I think I found that it just kind of helped me cope with that, and...share my story with the kids that are here," said Abigail Geddyes. "I'm here to help them and people are there to help them to get through it."

Geddyes says bullying isn't just a problem in schools, but can extend into the workplace as adults. She hopes by educating kids about this growing problem, she can help put an end to it.

She plans to take her message to other schools, performing for students, and asking them to sign a pledge to not bully their peers.

Wow! @ DanReeves...I am Abigail's mother and assure you that this video is very deceiving. She is not as skinny as this video makes her look. It is assumptions like yours which lead to situations that she has endured and its very damaging to people's self esteem, especially a teen. Please leave your negative comments out of this.

I think Abigail's Messages is courageous and that one shouldn't have to fight back but be left alone period. Kids are mean these days and need to learn how to find something better to do the bully other kids. Great Job Abby we love you

Great job Abigail! I have a son in elementary school who has had a rough time this year with bullies...I told him that children in this age group can be very mean sometimes & to tell us (his parents) & his teachers if it gets personal or physical. Kids come from different environments & that should be taken into account, but continuous bullying should not be tolerated. That's where the adults should step in. Bullying is not a new thing but it needs to be addressed & if kids arent able to deal with it on their own they need to know they can tell an adult or a friend & not be judged for doing so. I've contacted my child's school & they know whats going on. My advice is to stay in contact with your school & let them know whats going on & always make yourself available to your child so they can open up to you if there ever is a problem. Most of the problems that arise from bullying is that there aren't any adults in these kids lives to care what they're doing. That's why we have school shootings & other problems. It's not all the school's fault. Our job as parents doesn't stop between the hours of 7am & 3pm!
