A teenager is in serious condition after crashing his motorcycle Monday night.
Police say the 19-year-old was leaving a strip mall in the area of South Academy and Astrozon in Colorado Springs, and had the right-of-way as he traveled south on Academy. At the intersection, police say a northbound truck turned suddenly in front of the teen, causing the motorcycle to crash into it. The motorcyclist was ejected, hit the windshield, then fell into the roadway.
The teen is now in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The truck driver was uninjured, and was cited for several traffic charges including careless driving resulting in injury and vehicles turning left. Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the accident.
