A man wielding a ninja-type sword nearly sliced a police officer's finger off during a confrontation at a downtown Denver college campus.
The injured officer then managed to fire at the suspect, killing him.
According to the Denver Police Department, the officer approached the suspect after spotting him carrying a sword on the Auraria Campus around 6 a.m. Saturday. The suspect then turned his sword on the officer, nearly severing a finger.
After shooting the suspect, the officer was taken to the hospital for surgery.
Police have not released the suspect's name or if he was a student at the school. The officer's name has also not been released.
