Firefighters are investigating a suspicious fire outside of a hookah lounge on Academy and Bijou.

Business owners tell 11 News the investigation is focused on suspected arson.

The fire at Hookah Loves is out now, but people driving down North Academy this morning say they could see flames coming from the side of the building inside of the Academy Tower strip mall.

16 firefighters arrived to put out the fire within minutes. Seven separate fire crews arrived to offer support to make sure the fire didn't spread.

Firefighters tell 11 News this was a serious fire because in strip malls many of the businesses share crawl spaces and attic space which makes it easy for a fire to spread to multiple businesses.

Investigators were called to the scene to see exactly how the fire started. They say the fact it started in the parking lot outside of the hookah business makes it very suspicious and likely arson.
