A fire broke out in Black Forest Sunday morning and investigators are calling it suspicious. The fire started just off of Stagecoach Road near Rollercoaster Road.
An arson investigator with the El Paso County Sheriff’s office is working to determine if this fire was intentionally set.
The Baughman family was on their way to church around 10am Sunday morning when they spotted the flames. They immediately called 911. Fire crews were able to get the fire out before it spread.
The Baughman's live in Black Forest and they believe the fire was intentionally set.
“It’s just really scary because anyone with a match can create quite a bit of havoc both economic and even more putting our lives and homes at risk,” Wayne Baughman explained.
"The person who did this is just sad. There's something wrong with them to do something like this. It's just wrong,” Betty Baughman said.
The Baughman's say they have a neighborhood watch in place. They’re determined that if this is the work of an arsonist, they'll be working with the Sheriff’s office to get that person caught.
The Sheriff’s office is asking the public if you see anything suspicious to call their office right away at 390-5555.
