The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim found inside a home in Widefield. They say they are investigating the case as a homicide.
When deputies entered a home in the Security-Widefield area on a burglary call Wednesday, they found 47-year-old Miguel Barajas dead inside.
His daughter called 911 after returning to her home on the 100 block of Judson Street and finding the door wide open. Investigators say the call came in around 7:19 p.m. There were items taken from the home.
Neighbors say they didn't see or hear anything suspicious Wednesday night, and were shocked to see law enforcement and crime scene tape.
A few told us they have lived in the neighborhood for around 20 years and have never seen anything like this happen. They call it a safe neighborhood.
The Sheriff's Office is asking for anyone with information in the case to call 390-5555. There are no arrests at this time.
