After their attempts to break into a home were thwarted, police say two men started shooting at the house.

Several bullets made it through the exterior into the living room.

The attempted break-in happened just after 11:30 p.m. on the 2100 block of Chalmers on the southeast side of Colorado Springs. Police say that after shooting at the home, the men ran to a Cadillac parked in the area and took off.

11 News talked with neighbors on Chalmers Road who woke up to the startling sound of gunfire.

"All of a sudden we hear pop, pop, pop and we're like what was that?” Elizabeth Negrette said. She looked out the window, “We saw one guy jump into a Cadillac, make a u-turn and take off the other way."

The first suspect is described as a light-skinned male, possibly Hispanic, in his late teens or early 20s. The second suspect is a black male, believed to be the same age. Both men were wearing dark clothing.

The suspect vehicle is either a brown or gold Cadillac.
