Felony DUI charges against the driver of a truck are currently pending, after the driver ran into a power line pole.

The driver and a passenger were headed northbound on Powers between Galley and Palmer Park Boulevard when the driver lost control. He cut across the median and southbound lanes, then went off the road and crashed into the pole, knocking out power for numerous residents in the area.

Both the driver and passenger were taken to the hospital. The passenger reportedly has serious injuries.

Colorado Springs Utilities was able to restore power to most of the area quickly. The right southbound lane on Powers between Palmer Park and Galley will be closed most of the day while crews work on restoring power to light poles along that stretch.
