A suspect took off running after being pulled over by an officer who recognized the vehicle as one reported stolen.
Police were able to chase the man down, and arrested him shortly thereafter. The chase occurred just before 4 a.m. Sunday in the area of 3800 Lakehurst Drive, off South Academy and Jet Wing.
According to CSPD, the 29-year-old took off running while the officer was running a records check on him. The suspect, Brian Caley Powell, had told the officer he had borrowed the car from a friend.
After Powell was apprehended, police searched the vehicle, finding marijuana, keys, and several car stereos inside. Records also indicated that Powell was on probation.
Powell was then charged with aggravated motor vehicle theft, possession of burglary tools, and offenses related to marijuana.
