A runaway accused of using a relative's credit card to check into a hotel room was able to escape police by tying bed sheets together and shimming down four floors.

Springs police were called to the Antlers Hilton Hotel early Monday morning when the relative discovered the fraudulent activity and contacted police.

Police say they showed up at the hotel room door, but no one answered. By the time police got a search warrant, the 16-year-old suspect and another person were gone.

Authorities believe they left the Colorado Springs area on a Greyhound bus.

A warrant has been issued for the 16-year-old's arrest, but so far have not located him.
