A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will go into effect on Tuesday afternoon for most of Southern Colorado. Daytime heating and moisture will combine with a disturbance moving through Colorado to develop numerous thunderstorms. Any one of them will be more than capable of producing very heavy rain. Burn scars and areas that have seen recent heavy rain will be under the greatest risk for flash flooding. The 11 Breaking Weather Team will be tracking this threat all day for you.
Police have caught two men who allegedly fled during a routine traffic stop Tuesday morning.
A motorcycle officer tried to pull the suspects over just before 9:30 a.m. The suspects sped off in their vehicle, which they ditched on Whittier Drive, near Pikes Peak and Murray. Police do not believe the vehicle was stolen and say it's unknown why they ran.
Officers searched the area for about an hour. One suspect was found on Tennyson Avenue, just a couple blocks from where they abandoned the car. The second suspect was caught hiding in a shed behind a house, about a block from Roosevelt Edison Charter School.
Roosevelt Edison Charter School and nearby Swigert Academy both went on a brief precautionary lockdown during the search.
