Local high school students had a unique look into the Colorado legal system Tuesday when the court room was moved to Fountain Fort Carson. The Colorado Court of Appeals held opening arguments for two cases in the school’s auditorium.
The hearing was part of the “Courts in the Community” program, which is designed to give high school students a hands-on experience with Colorado’s legal system.
Student Charlee Riggo says having the chance to see legal experts in action is a rare opportunity. "I've always took an interest in it, but having it here first hand and having them talk to us and really tell us what it’s all about is really amazing. It really strikes our interest and I think there are a lot of students that might be interested."
