Hugs and cries of relief: that is how KKTV reporter Sarah Schwabe described the scene as parents were reunited with their children after the shooting at Arapahoe High School.
Students recounted hearing shots and being told to leave everything behind as they evacuated.
Some parents had to wait for more than four hours before they were able to see their children. Parents had to provide a valid ID before they could sign their students out and take them home.
Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church is one of the evacuation centers where students were taken after the shooting. KKTV is told counselors will be available there Sunday to talk to anyone having a hard time coping with what happened.
