Drifts outside Miami-Yoder School
More than 60 students are back home after a spontaneous slumber party at their school.
Tuesday's snowstorm hit eastern El Paso County so hard that buses were unable to get students out of Miami-Yoder School, forcing dozens of kids to spend the night.
Students spent the evening watching movies, playing basketball and eating pizza before going to sleep on wrestling mats. Being that the district only has about 315 students, school officials say the students all knew each other, giving the evening the feel of a makeshift sleepover. A handful of teachers stayed the night to watch the kids.
Parents began arriving at the school Wednesday morning. The last group of kids left before noon.
