The building monitor and engineering student being credited for saving countless lives during Thursday’s deadly shooting at Seattle Pacific University is being thanked for his heroism through wedding gifts.
Jon Meis, who reportedly tackled the Seattle Pacific University gunman Thursday in the midst of the shooting spree inside the school’s Otto Miller Hall, is slated to be married to his fiancee on June 21st. After a link to the couple’s gift registries for Crate & Barrel and Target was circulated online, people in the Seattle community were quick to contribute.
As of Friday morning, all but one item on their Crate & Barrel registry were fulfilled, according to KIRO.
Meis, 22, is being praised for his quick thinking during the ordeal. In addition to knocking down the gunman, Meis also used pepper-spray to subdue the suspect.
Other students assisted Meis in preventing the shooter from getting up until police arrived on the scene.
Police have identified 26-year-old Aaron R. Ybarra as the suspect in the shooting.
